Our principles encourage legal, accountable, and transparent organizational practices that serve donors and ultimately the individuals and communities that we operate within. We aspire to practices that are prudent and ethical. We believe it is paramount to:

  1. Involve women and girls, men and boys with lived experience in developing all critical aspects of our work. Their input will be particularly important for developing training and/public awareness campaigns as well as policy development that can effect positive systems change. We will champion powerful peer-to-peer training and outreach. We will always consider the impact of any campaign on Survivors.
  2. Engage men and boys. There are two prominent reasons why we need men at our side if we wish to make it to the finish line. First, we will create a “champions circle” of high profile advocates-including men – who can educate, change attitudes and thus influence public opinion. Second, we will engage and ask ‘reformed’ buyers, pimps and traffickers for help developing strategy. We will invite buyers who are causing the problem to help solve it.
  3. Be Real. We will portray human trafficking for the purposes of sexual and labour exploration accurately. The important experiences of Survivors will consistently inform us in this regard.
  4. Appeal to hearts and minds. We will build the case for action by speaking to the facts, identifying how, where and when human trafficking is occurring, identifying the related personal and public cost and the services and supports that are needed in order to shift public perception. We will draw on the voices of survivors and their families to convey the debilitating harm inflicted by human trafficking.
  5. Build for the long term. We will plan for longer term community building and sustainability. Our actions will be reflected in longer term, sustainable practices that will seek to educate and reinforce human rights principles for victims of Human Trafficking. Instead of quick fixes, we will work towards changing deeply held attitudes and behaviours through core professional training programs, evidence based practices, leading research and policy development
  6. Develop services alongside building awareness. We will ensure that supports and services are available when victims are identified, or come forward. We will strive to ensure that all Trafficked victims will receive the security and services they need in a timely manner.
